About Electric Bowl
Electric Bowl was opened in October 2005. The State-of-the-Art Bowling Alley, which has transformed the site of the former car park under Halifax Snooker Club, has 10 Lanes, 2 Bars, Dining and Function Rooms and Hi-Tech Entertainment Equipment.
The building started as a Riding School in the late 19th Century before becoming a Cinema called Electric in the 1930s, which inspired the name of the Bowling Alley.
One of the owners, Tony Ioannou, said: “We have had the site since 1983 but before us it was a DIY Store called Sid Brothers”.
“This is a great build for the town and certainly shows people that there is more to Halifax. People had to go to Bradford and Huddersfield but now they have this on their doorstep”.
With its striking, angular copper panels and two-storey windows, it sits well opposite the neighbouring Lloyds Banking Group Offices.
This has been a local project from the offset with a number of Calderdale based companies so there was a real feeling of trying to create the best and to make the town proud.
